Brazil - FIFA World Cup 2014 - Day 6

Brazil (0) - Mexico (0) - Group A

Mexico keeps pace with Brazil atop the Group A standings. While Mexico has outperformed expectations set by their weak run-up to the finals, they continue to show they can hang with the big boys, including the Boys from Brazil. Assuming Brazil can dispatch Cameron, the Mexico-Croatia match-up appears to be justifying the pre-tourney hype. Both teams will be fighting for the H2 seed on Monday evening. What does the winner have to look forward to? An R-16 ass-whomping by the Flying Dutchmen, sure to to Group B.

Belgium (2) - Algeria (1) - Group H

Group H favorite Belgium was expected to dispatch Algeria, but it proved a bit harder than expected. Trailing 0-1 at the half, Belgium rallied to take three points in the end. Belgium needs to win the H1 seed to avoid facing Germany in the R-16. The H1 seed may find themselves facing the US, if the Yanks can pull out the G2 seed. US is capable of beating (or losing to) Belgium or Algeria, so maybe they can make it to the quaterfinals!

Rusian (1) - Korea (1) - Group H

Not much here to interest the US fan. Although Russia and Korea each earn a point for the tie, Algeria remains my pick for the H2 seed, despite its loss to Belgium. Time and TMZ will tell.
